You can sleep in shifts anywhere if you're worried about being ambushed or having your things taken. It might not be ideal, but it's better than not sleeping.
[ and he smiles a little bit at that mention ]
That'd be nice! I hope that we can trust each other enough for that. But it's still early, so it makes sense if people are less eager to rely on strangers, even if we have common goals.
That doesn't even make any sense. It's just a bathroom.
[ what! is wrong! with you people! ]
I mean... That's how things are in the Tower. [ mostly. ] If everyone just did whatever they wanted, nothing would work. Even if it's true that we're [ his voice breaks a little here ] dead, isn't that the same everywhere?
[ to be able to share information freely and trust that people will act in each other's best interests... ]
Where I'm from, even if there's laws, there's plenty of people who break them because they're desperate or they've been driven to it by difficult circumstances. Or the laws themselves are twisted.
I've heard it's like that outside of the Tower. But that's why we live there. It's safer for us and better than dealing with people who won't follow the rules.
Usually it does. But some guy broke in recently, and when he left, he took Iris with him. It looked like he even wanted to go, and good riddance if he did, but... the guy was a criminal. He probably forced Iris to help.
[ unfortunately for yves this is a side character who knows basically nothing ]
My only guess is maybe he wanted something from the room with the eyes, but I don't know. No one said why he was there, just that he killed some of the guards.
A-Anyway... They're long gone now. The staff's still looking into it, I think, but that's the first time anyone's ever broken in from the outside. It's always been safe before that.
[ hmmmm well they're both dead now so it's just food for thought for whenever laurence gets to go back! because yves is now determined to help laurence go back
but he'll just pat him on the shoulder ]
Then I hope you're right and this place can work like the Tower.
But if you need any help with things you're not used to experiencing, let me know, yeah? I had to learn a lot of things from the ground up too.

[ huffs. ]
That's dumb. No one can do everything by themselves.

[ just as an example ]
But I like the way you think! I hope it all plays out like you say.
[ he's just seen some truly horrible people in the world so he'd rather be prepared than not ]

Sounds like you could use a place like the Tower.

Someone with powers. Like me, I'm a Daphne. I can teleport.
B-But I don't use my powers in the Tower! None of us do [ shoots the arm a quick glare ] except for Iris, but he's long gone.

[ glances over at the arm... ] What happened to Iris? Is he okay?

[ laurence looks away, expression falling. ]
That's... complicated.
no subject
... sorry. I hope he's safe.

If he's not, it's his own fault. That guy's always finding ways to cause trouble for us, even after he left the Tower.

Do you know why he broke in? Was there something in the Tower that he wanted?

room with the eyes is... so foreboding! though at the mention of people being killed, yves raises his eyebrow ]
Whoa, that must've been scary. [ especially if you're not used to crime! ] Were you okay in all of that?

[ nailed it ]

I won't tell anyone if you did?

Things... like what? I've heard about spawncampers, and - whatever they're doing with those eyes, but...
[ what else IS there ]
