[ this does get a light chuckle out of zhongli, actually. as he's delicately holding a french fry between thumb and forefinger like he's never eaten this in his life. (he has not) ]
[ grandpa doesn't mind a few good puns even if he's not wont to make them, himself. he's told some bad jokes in his time. ]
Can you, now? I believe they're part of a popular dish in another nation, if I recall correctly, but I've not had the chance to try them for myself, before now. Do you prefer ketchup or something else?
[ Their head tilts at the mention of nation, curious. ]
Yeah, french fries aren't really popular in a lot of places but they're a pretty staple side where I was. [ (What you prefer...) ] Mmm. Ketchup is fine. I like them plain, too.
[ he hums a thoughtful sound, before going to join them properly to survey sauces. ]
Fish and chips, I believe it was. Not Fontaine's most famous dish, considering the delicacies they tout, but regardless a known and popular street food. [ he will have order!! of ketchup. ]
[ The words are said slowly, like tasting the words on their tongue, still just as puzzled. A shake of their head after, taking a moment to think. ]
Though, I haven't really traveled across many countries. I think I've traveled as far as Ka Bue but nowhere farther than that. I've also been just in Vaugarde for a pretty lengthy while now so. If it's on the other side of the world..
[ It makes sense why he wouldn't have heard of them? ]
Curious. [ admittedly, it's not as if he's been across all of teyvat - it's been quite some time since he's left liyue, after all - but he at least knows many of the city names in the other nations. nevermind his own. ]
I don't believe such places exist in the world of Teyvat, and if you've not heard of the nations thereof then I imagine that this is another case of worlds overlapping into one, single, supposed afterlife.
[ Hmmm... the bottom half of their face tucks into their collar, contemplating for a moment. Quiet until he speaks again, slowly. ]
The.. Universe is vast, and with how many stars there are.. ones we can't even see from the naked eye looking up at the night sky.. if there's multiple worlds, it could make sense.
[ A hand raises to rub at their temple a little, wincing just a bit. Headachey. ]

Yes, perhaps that's the right way to look at it.

Pleasantly surprised by a chuckle, they smile a little more. And since he's holding a fry like it's some new dish... they point at it.]
French fries are pretty good, nicer with ketchup. Though you can dip em in quite a few things.
