I am not the right guy to give a science lesson. [ SIGHS
and gives it a try anyway. ] It's like lightning, but harvested and used as a power source. I'm not an engineer, I don't know exactly how it works, but it's just science. For things like that [ gestures at the toy ] it would just use batteries.
he is really listening to like every word given of this explanation, clearly very happy he did explain it - and then nods. ]
I see! So, not all that different from luxite, after all...! A battery would be a smaller, more portable version of powering something ... And that's something you've access to all the time? How wonderful.
Uh. Sort of? We have to ask for batteries and stuff if we need them, but the Tower needs electricity to run, so you could say we have access to it because we live there.
[ hhmmmmmmm. he shakes his head a little, clearing away whatever very brief melancholy that flashes across his face with a smile. ]
A lovely name, Flora. [ ... ] At any rate. It does seem a bit similar - there has been luxite used to power lighting and other such technology, but it's rarely afforded to any but the wealthy. The idea that it would be in the hands of children is quite unusual, if only because it is exceedingly rare, and, if processed incorrectly, it can be very dangerous.
So - a little toy like this is quite heartening, to know there's something all people could enjoy.
It's short for demiflora. [ like an afterthought but anyway. ] It was probably like that back when they were first figuring out electricity. But it's been so long that it doesn't matter matter anymore, and they have ways to make it a lot safer for regular people to use.
...I never thought about it like that. Toys like that are pretty much common. Even I had some when I was a kid.
Mm. Well - that is the one of the best things about meeting new people, isn't it? We get to see so many other perspectives, and learn so much more about each other.
[ even if they're dead, though this has yet to put a damper on Taair - whatever brief melancholy is gone, now. ]
I hope that luxite can become so safe and widely accessible, too. It... seems a far off dream, for now, but perhaps someday.
[ mm. he trails off, a little thoughtfully, and then shakes his head. ]
By the way - my manners have indeed escaped me. I didn't ask your name!
Different perspectives aren't always a good thing.
[ disney princess, meet tsundere. he's not the reassuring type, either, so whatever the right thing to say about the luxite issue is, it escapes him. thankfully god for an out. ]
[ hm. there's a complicated expression on his face, one that says he doesn't quite agree but... well. that's for later and maybe a pc or two who's to say. ]
Nice to meet you, too, Mr. Taair. [ he can be polite. ] You don't look that bothered by being here.
