π Welcome
Think for a moment. What's the last thing you remember, exactly? Were you with your loved ones? Were you fighting for your life? Whatever the case may be, the story ends like this: you died. Regardless of how important circumstances were, you have been eliminated from your own world. That's all there is.
Perhaps it will surprise you to wake up surrounded by the sky in every direction. What's above is reflected below in the shallow water that ripples beneath you without getting you wet. Strangely, what lies beneath this water is a mystery to you, and it feels more like walking on a glass surface, completely solid and clear underfoot.
Despite the fact you've perished, nothing hurts. Any injuries you arrived with have been neatly bandaged, and anything life-threatening has been mended enough that it no longer is. The warm sunshine probably feels good on your skin right now, doesn't it? The temperature is perfect, and you feel oddly comfortable considering the circumstances.
You aren't the only one rousing, however. Strangers around you also blink into consciousness, glowing halos flickering to life and floating over their heads. It might be hard to see the shape of your own halo looking up, but your reflection on the ground should help with that. Reaching up to touch it will prove futile. It's intangible, though your hand feels a little warm passing through it.
Your first instinct might be to leave. Can't blame you. You're in a strange place surrounded by strange people and no sense of direction. You might even try to use one of your powers from your home world to escape, but try as you might they don't appear to work. Worry not though; it looks like this place has bestowed some gifts upon you. Within your vicinity you have have one item from home. You have a gift box with your name on it. And, of course, you have the brand new sexy angel costume that you're already wearing! π
So what are you waiting for? Up and at 'em! The island has plenty of space to explore, though as you approach the edge it fades slowly into a thick fog. Pressing onward into the fog will disorient you and soon you'll find yourself completely turned around right back where you started. Probably best to stick to this area.
But hey, there's plenty to look at still! Instead of empty space, scattered around the island you'll see glassy, transparent protrusions from the ground. Most of them... well, you can't quite make out the shape. Could be buildings. Could be trees. Could be objects on the ground. Flowers, maybe? Their form doesn't seem to want to settle, and the light catching on their edges isn't really as illuminating as you'd like.
There is one exception to this. One shape seems to be more stable than the rest, less transparent and instead just... hazy. It's like you're looking at it through glasses with the wrong prescription. Even though it's blurry, you can tell that it's a cafe, and its door is wide open. Thoughtful, right? Whoever or whatever brought you here, at least they don't want you to starve!
Though no one is manning the counter, you can order your desired meal off of the slightly-clearer touch screen menu that offers up any kind of fast food you could want. There are also two restrooms in the back, with the keys hanging up on the wall beside them. That aside, there doesn't appear to be anything else open and you're left to your own devices.
We understand this is a lot to process, so take your time adjusting. And remember: everything is fine.

Are you not going to eat any?
[ as she continues to politely eat while dying of spice ]
no subject
It'd be my pleasure. [ he'll eat some, actually, and wildly enough he does not react to the spice level at all. in fact, he seems to be enjoying himself. ]
no subject
Then, to a shared meal.
[ charlie gives off the vibe that she is suffering, but she will continue to eat it ]
You have a very strong stomach, sir.
no subject
It's the only thing I can taste anymore. [ he says pleasantly. ] You don't need to finish it, child, you can tell me no.
no subject
Well, I would hate to waste food, and I don't want to insult a dish that's so important to you.
[ so she very slowly keeps at it.... ]
Is it alright if I ask.... did something happen to you? [ that he can't taste anymore? ]
no subject
[ he hums. ]
A long life happened to me. But that's all done with now, isn't it?
no subject
[ wow. loser ]
Mmm. I'm sorry about that.
no subject
A meal is always better shared with others. Thank you for indulging me. [ ... ] You're sorry, hm? Why, were you responsible?
[ there's a hint of teasing to that question. ]
no subject
[ he's cute too..... ]
[ also no not the teasing ]
Well, no... but it's not easy. Even if you've lived a full life.
no subject
[ he says, after a moment. still smiling, serenely. ]
You seem far too young to be here, however.
no subject
[ on that note .... ]
Well, my situation is... ah, complicated. But if this is Heaven, then I'm definitely not supposed to be here.
no subject
Is this Heaven? [ he really did not think he would end up on this side of the afterlife, help him ] And why not?
no subject
[ she doesn't even know his name ]
Well. I'm not welcome in Heaven right now, that's for sure. And-- my home is Hell. So.
no subject
I didn't expect to end up there in the first place. [ and he's going to introduce himself, it's just that he blinks once or twice instead at that ]
Your home is Hell?
no subject
[ an earnest question ]
Yes, I, er--- I was born and raised there.
[ just, a normal thing to say to a stranger nbd ]
no subject
[ he doesn't ]
You're cheery for a denizen of the underworld.
[ doesn't answer the first question ]
no subject
Oh, thank you!
[ is that even a compliment ]
Hell.... well.... I mean, it's Hell, so it's not always great, but it is my home. The only one I've ever had.
no subject
[ ear flicky. ]
But now you're here.
no subject
[ takes a little breath, steadying herself out ]
I'll just have to get to the bottom of this.
no subject
Don't overwork yourself, now. Doctor's orders.
no subject
Oh... Are you a doctor?
no subject
I am. I've been a healer for a very long time.
no subject
Oh, that's incredible! Will you tell me more about it?
no subject
[ he jokes. ]
We'll be here for a while yet, I assume. We'll have time for stories.
[ hits you up for pcs instead ]
